Hello,
I also have a Guszich painting from 1909 that I am trying to have appraised to sell. Can you tell me more about the painter? I have been unable to find anything online.
Hi,
My name is Alida Romano and my name before I married was Guszich. If it helps, we had a Guszich artist in the family who left Austria around the 1900s to travel to America - he was a very talented artist and my family believes he is the artist of your pictures. I hope this information helps.
Hi Alida,
Sorry this has take so long and I hope you check back. But Yes it helps immensely.
Do you know your relatives first name, or any other details?
I love this oil and you should be proud such an artist was in your family.
i have a painting by guszich it is a old rabbi in a black hat .Are guszich paintings valuable please answer
My Guszich was purchased in Dayton,OH in 1979 in an art gallery. $100. Dealer said painter in Hungary well known for portraits in oil of Jewish men. Not allowed to sell paintings under Communist Regime. Reminded me of Jewish men in prayer shawls I had seen from hotel rooftop in Israel hurrying to early prayers.

HI. all. I too have a Guszich. The back of the frame says it was sold at a gallery in Harrisburg PA, in the Penn Harris Hotel. My oil is a small portrait about 9x12. It too looks like a religious man in a black cap and long gray beard. Very well done.
Hello Everyone,
I just came across this blog site and it's wonderful, I too own a Guszich painting. The eyes of the rabbi cry out to you, there are so many stories to be told but he just stares back at you. I have had this painting since the 70's my dad was an antique collector in Hagerstown, Md. I'd be willing to part with it for the right price. It's a 9x10 Canvas signed piece. Please contact me with any comments or questions.
My name is Garnett Jones. I posted a comment about my Guszich painting several years ago. I do not want to sell it. I love it and it hangs in my living room so that I can see it every day. My e-mail has changed to garnettbjones@gmail.com.
I have just purchased a wonderful portrait by this artist. Any information anyone has about him wll be very greatly appreciated.

Hello, We have a Guszich Portrait that will be up for Sale next week at www.AYPToday.com. We are an online auction in Pittsburgh, Pa. This is a portrait of an elderly man in a red cap. By the style and descriptions you and the other have given I feel certain this is the same artist whose work you treasure.
To all of you posted, what if we put photos of all our Guszich paintings and have like a booklet or packet of his work? Since we all seem to have one of his works. If you are interested, I could make free packets and send them out to people who send me a photo of their painting? Ardith reach me at
